Why applyChina?

applyChina was founded by James, a former admissions professional at Peking University and Yale-NUS College (Singapore), and a graduate of New York University Shanghai and the Yenching Academy at Peking University.

Many services supporting applications to Chinese universities lack either direct experience studying in China, or a clear understanding of how admissions decisions are made in practice.

Having lived and studied in China for over seven years, and having received full scholarships for both undergraduate and graduate study, James founded applyChina to provide clear, practical guidance grounded in real experience.

He holds HSK Level 5 and HSKK Advanced certification, and has worked on both sides of the admissions process — as an applicant and within university admissions.

The focus is simple: helping you approach your applications with clarity, structure, and a strong understanding of what actually matters.

If you’re considering applying to universities in China, we’d be happy to help you get started.
